WNY EquiFest 2014

"Need your spring “horse-fix” after this long, cold winter? Join your friends and make new ones at WNY EquiFest 2014, Western New York’s premier equine expo and equestrian gathering Sunday, March 16th, 2014 at the Showplex on the Fairgrounds in Hamburg, NY. Opening ceremonies will kick off the festivities at 9:30 a.m.

WNY EquiFest is a free family-friendly equine exposition featuring some of the area’s top clinicians and trainers. Sponsored by the Western Chapter of the New York State Horse Council, this will be the event’s fourth consecutive year, growing bigger and more exciting with the addition of new clinicians and presenters.
New this year and sure to be a real crowd pleaser will be Cowboy Mounted Shooting, presented by Stagecoach Outriders Cowboy Mounted Shooters. Cowboy mounted shooting, one of the fastest growing family oriented equine sports, is a combination of reining, barrel racing, horsemanship and marksmanship.

The WNY Polo Club will present an exciting presentation of the fast acting sport of polo. Travis Pufpaff will make youth horsemanship the focus of his reining demonstration.

The Family Fun Corral will be back again this year where children can try their hands at old fashioned cowhand skills or make a cool art project to take home. Barn 11 will also host a fashion show, highlighting some of the newest equine wear provided by The Harness Shop Online, Creekside Saddlery, Stagecoach West, LaScala Originals and So Vain Clothing. Paul Nazzarett, Jr. owner of The Harness Shop Online remarked “Although there are events in other parts of the country, EquiFest is Buffalo’s premier equestrian trade show with informational presentations.”
Equestrian “Giving Back” Program – Unyts, WNY’s only organ, eye, tissue and community blood center, along with the Western Chapter of the New York State Horse Council, will host a community blood drive. For every pint collected and a 1/2 hour of your time, 3 lives can be saved. Bring your photo and plan to donate!
Over 100 vendors will offer the equine enthusiast must-have horse products ranging from the newest line of riding wear, saddles, equipment, tractors, trucks, trailers, beautiful hand-crafted horse pottery, even purses and hand-made fine chocolates – something for everyone - with both products and information for all attendees.

There will be plenty of refreshments on-site and free-parking. Like us on Facebook at EquiFest WNY. For a full event schedule, visit our website at www.wcnyshc.org. The American Repertory Theater of WNY

The American Repertory Theater of WNY
7th Annual
Mardi Gras Célébration

March 1st, 7 pm to Midnight

 Bittner Hall
16 Linwood Avenue
Buffalo NY 14214

Buffalo, NY-Join the American Repertory Theater of WNY as the company kicks off the "Second Half" of the theatrical season with the company's Mardi Gras Celebration on March 1st, 2014, 7 pm to Midnight, at Bittner Hall 16 Linwood Avenue, Buffalo NY.

With modest beginning at Rust Belt Books, this event has substantially grown over the past six years. So much that the company has shifted the celebration to Saturday evening, instead of the traditional Fat Tuesday, so more folks can get their laissez les bon temps rouler  a rollin'.

Musical entertainment for the evening includes the 30's & 40's  jazzamatazzing sounds of Buffalo's own Doctor Jazz and the Jazzbugs, music act After Hours! offers their lounge lizard free-form approach to alternative music classics, with the folk-rockers The 47's capping off the night with their raw brand of acoustic strings and electric guitar music.

Highlighting the evening is the popular readings from the Louisiana book of folktales, Gumbo Ya Ya. Alumni ART/WNY director and actor Christopher Standart joins ART/WNY director Gail Golden (LITTLE ROBERT; MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS), Betsy Bittar and Deborah A Krygier (parental unit of ART/WNY's alumni Aaron Krygier-COWBOY MOUTH) with Brazen Faced Varlets company member Kerry Alsheimer, ART/WNY alumni Shayna Raichilson-Zadok and theater newcomer, Erica Lorenzetti.  All will read passages from the classic Louisiana book of folklore Gumbo Ya Ya with Golden, Bittar and Krygier taking on a hilarious section in the book about the famed "Baby Girls" of New Orleans.

Additionally, servings of chicken & sausage gumbo, rice & beans, Bubba's Cajun Lum Dogs and libations will be offered until supplies last.

Tickets are $10 at the door with a special $5 (plus service charge) online ticket price now on available by visiting http://artofwnymardigras.bpt.me. For more information on the event please call the ART Box Office at 716-634-1102 or visit www.artofwny.org.
