Roaming Buffaloes Announces The Buffalo News Tower Jam Concert Series Inaugural Four-Date Series will Ignite HSBC Tower

BUFFALO, NY – This Friday, a seldom-used downtown setting will light up with music, food and drink, with the kickoff of Buffalo’s newest free summer concert series.

The Buffalo News Tower Jam concert series, staged in the plaza outside One HSBC Center - Buffalo’s tallest structure – offers an eclectic lineup blending local and international artists over four free happy hour concerts (4:30-7:30p.m.) on the second Friday of each summer month, beginning this Friday, June 11th, and running through September 10th.

The first event will feature internationally acclaimed, Trinidadian-born and Toronto-based trumpeter Brownman joining forces with some of Buffalo's finest jazz musicians in a bold and sweeping tribute to Miles Davis. Brownman - best known for his work fronting his Electryc Trio and as featured touring soloist with the late Guru's Jazzmatazz, and called "Canada's preeminent jazz trumpet player" by The Village Voice - will lead three separate ensembles through various eras of Davis' trendsetting career in a specially constructed mini-version of his revered Canadian production of “Five Weeks for Miles,” where he - every October - leads five groups through five eras of Davis’ work over five straight Fridays. The wide-ranging cast of Buffalo ringers includes electric bassist Rodney Appleby; upright bassist Bill Staebell and his drumming son Aaron; Andy Weinzler on tenor sax; Angelo Di Loreto on piano; drummer Tim Webb, and members of Type Relevant.

Roaming Buffaloes, in partnership with The Buffalo News, Labatt USA, Try-It Distributing, Pearl Street Grill & Brewery, The City of Buffalo, and The Good Neighborhood, hope to attract the downtown working community and fun-seekers from all around with their local-leaning offering of music, food and refreshments. “We are very excited to deliver this great event to the workers of Downtown Buffalo and music lovers throughout our region,” said Roaming Buffaloes founder Jeff Empric. “We encourage everyone to take advantage of the Metro Rail and join us on this and every second Friday this summer.”

A portion of the concert proceeds will benefit Buffalo Police Athletic League. For more information about The Buffalo News Tower Jam Concert Series, visit www.roamingbuffaloes.com. Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are still available by contacting jeffempric@roamingbuffaloes.com.
