Artpark’s Annual Celtic Festival

“Tuesday in the Park” Sham-Rocks on August 1!Artpark’s Annual Celtic Festival Features World-Famous Bands!
(Lewiston, NY) Two of the world’s most internationally-popular Celtic-rock bands, Gaelic Storm and Enter The Haggis, co-headline Artpark’s annual Celtic Festival, slated as the August 1 installment of the “First Niagara Tuesday in the Park” free outdoor concert series. The show begins at 6:30pm.Gaelic Storm, founded on St. Patrick’s Day 1996, was catapulted out of their formative pub haunts by an appearance as the “party band” in the blockbuster film Titanic. Now playing over 125 dates a year, Gaelic Storm routinely breaks festival attendance records, including the largest Celtic Festival in the world (Festival Interceltique in Lorient, France). In addition, they are a fixture in the Top 10 of Billboard’s World Music Charts and the subject of a mini-documentary that airs regularly on Cinemax.

A Toronto-based outfit that began recording in 1996, Enter The Haggis has built an international touring and recording career based largely on high-energy performances. ETH, as their fans (affectionately titled “Haggis Heads”) refer to them, is led by Craig Downie, the band’s Scottish-born bagpiper, who was a member of the award-winning General Motors Pipe Band by age 12. Over the past year, Enter The Haggis has filmed a TV spot on A&E Breakfast With The Arts, performed on the popular PBS program Out Of Ireland (which aired on 260 channels nationwide), and launched their current intercontinental tour which began in Europe in March.

Intermission will include a performance by Grand Island’s McCarthy School of Irish Dance.Every Tuesday evening event includes a plethora of hands-on art activities for children, which are sponsored by the New York Power Authority. The “First Niagara Tuesday in the Park at Artpark” concert series is also sponsored by Certo Brothers, Sevenson Environmental Services, Modern Corporation and Tim Horton’s.

Hit N Run News

How could any band ask for a better turnout or set of shows than Hit n Run had this past weekend. This leg of the 2006 Beer Tent Tour is going great. There were thousands of people to see Hit n Run at every show last week. Tuesdays 4th of July party for the town of Lancaster was a sea of people. They already reserved next year and want an extra hour next year, of Hit NRun. Then Friday we performed at Dunn Tire Park for the Bisons Bash. Saturday we broke our own record for people at Queen of Heaven. Not only do they want the spot reserved for next year, but they want the band for two additional shows next year. Special thanks go out to Terry, Jerry and Linda. We look forward to next years shows and breaking more records.
• This Friday (7/14) Hit N Run is at Old Home Days inWilliamsville. Start time is 7pm. It is located in the park on Main Street, a few blocks from Harlem. They have rides, games, tons of food and HNR in the big tent.
• Then on Saturday (7/15) Hit N Run will be at a private (Mahoney) party. This is a closed party that we have done for the past decade, so the only time to see HNR is on Friday.
For information on schedules, songs, pictures or additional information on Hit N Run, visit www.hitnrun.net.
I hope to see all our friends at some point this week.Mark Valentino

(July 8, 2006) — On July 22nd, the final Kingdom Bound Faith Night of the summer season will take place before the Buffalo Bisons’ game. Third Coast Sports, out of Nashville, Tenn., has hosted “Faith Nights” at many minor-league baseball stadiums from coast-to-coast, and they’ve happily hosted several Faith Nights in Buffalo this summer, with thousands in attendance. This summer’s Kingdom Bound festival, August 6-9, will feature MercyMe, Casting Crowns, Third Day, and Newsboys, and 70,000 people from all over the world are expected to attend. The July 22nd Kingdom Bound Faith Night will start at 5:30pm and feature concerts by One Foot In Heaven, a local band with international radio airplay on thepraisehouse.com global webcast, and Edison Glass, a rock band hailing from Long Island, New York. Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber from the hit animation series VeggieTales will be in attendance, too. “Buffalo is an ideal place to hold Faith Nights,” said Brent High, president of Third Coast Sports. “Family, outreach, fellowship and fun all play into the events. We look forward to being here for many years to come.” Kingdom Bound is the title sponsor of Buffalo’s Faith Nights.
