Weekend Features Three Day “Crash Fest” Block Party on Old Falls Street, USA

Niagara Falls, NY (Aug. 22, 2012) – “Let’s get ready to rumble,” as the Woman’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) hosts “The Thrill of the Spill,” the 2012 North Central Regional Roller Derby Championship Tournament, at the Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls, Sept. 14-16, 2012. The event is the first of its kind to be held in Western New York. The tournament was secured with support from Western New York’s own Queen City Roller Girls team.

To complement the weekend, Old Falls Street, USA, is teaming up with the neighboring Legends Bar & Grill to host a three-day complimentary “Crash Fest” Block Party on the Middle Block of Old Falls Street, all three evenings of the tournament, from 6 to 11:30 p.m. “Crash Fest” features live music by the Stevie Fleck Band on Friday evening, live music by Clyde on Saturday evening, and a disc jockey will spin tunes on Sunday evening. A variety of local favorites, healthy food options, seasonal brews and wine will be available for purchase. The public is invited to join the festivities.

“Collaborative events such as these allow us to welcome tournament guests to our diverse indoor/outdoor facility in dynamic fashion,” said Global Spectrum’s Ryan Coate, general manager of The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls and Old Falls Street, USA. “While the teams will keep spectators entertained inside our Event Center, ‘Crash Fest’ will keep the teams and other guests entertained on Old Falls Street after a long day of competition.”

“The Thrill of the Spill” tournament is the first of a series of four 2012 regional playoff tournaments that will be held in various locations around the country. Tournaments include the top 10 teams from each WFTDA region – East, West, North Central, and South Central.
