Music in the Night with Frightworld

Frightworld America’s Screampark wants to end the Halloween season with a bang as they promote not one, but two free concerts to anyone who would like to come attend their haunted attraction. Both Styles P and MIMS will be in concert on two separate nights, performing on stage in the center of Frightworld’s five distinctively unique haunted attractions.

Styles P is an American based rapper and a member of Hip Hop group D-Block, which includes Jadakiss, and Sheek Louch. He will hold a free concert at Frightworld America's Screampark on Tuesday, October 30th with a paid admission to the haunted attractions. This will be an early concert as Frightworld will open its lobby at 5:30 and will hold the concert before any of the attractions will be available to the public.

MIMS will appear on Friday, November, 2nd for an all-night dance party at Frightworld. MIMS released his debut album, Music Is My Savior , powered by the success of the massive single "This Is Why I'm Hot". The album has endured savage reviews to the tune of 270,000 copies sold so far in the U.S.

Frightworld America’s Screampark will put MIMS on stage after an all-night live performance by Nicholas Picholas of Kiss98.5. Once again, this is a free concert with a full-price paid admission to Frightworld’s five houses of terror; only twenty dollars for all of this in one night.

Back on October 14th, Frightworld had brought Kat DeLuna to a highly successful concert with Innocent Bystanders opening for her that night. People swarmed the stage as both groups performed in the midst of the five haunted attractions. With the huge success of this concert, Frightworld knew it wanted to do this again for their public, and soon.

Now in their sixth year, Frightworld America’s Screampark has frightened over 100,000 people since their incarnation. With roots grown in the outskirts of Buffalo, Frightworld is one of the highest ranked haunted attractions in the western half of New York State. Voted as one of the best attractions in the past two years, Frightworld is growing in size as well as in terror.

In the Garden Village of Cheektowaga, at the corners of Union and French roads, Frightworld has expanded beyond everyone’s dreams. Five distinctively different themed houses, three major concert events in one year, and a fan base that extends to Montreal and Kentucky, Niagara Falls to New York City, Frightworld America’s Screampark is a major destination for people across the country for the Halloween season. CLASSIC ROCK ENTERTAINMENT

Greetings! It's been a long time since we've seen you all. We miss you and we miss playing together, too. First we want to thank you for all the years of support, fun and friendship.

Now to some serious stuff. Paulie Battaglia, our drummer, has been having some serious health issues the past year. The good news is he is on the upswing. The bad news, well, you know what a drain a health problem can be on the rest life.

So, to help our friend out, we are having a benefit in his honor. Here's the scoop: We're having a party in the old Changes style on Saturday, October 20 at Papa Joe's on Niagara Falls Blvd, Wheatfield. $20.00 gets you in the door where you'll find beer, food pop, prizes and...did I mention...Live entertainment! And yes, Changes will be playing a set as well as "Tunnel" and "Rip and the Bandogs."

The Party starts at 5:00 PM and goes to 11:00... Changes is opening the show with one set only starting around 6:30. Followed by Tunnel then Rip and the Bandogs. Mike Lynch from Tunnel and the Bandogs will be filling in on drums for us. (Thanks, Mike!) I'm sure there will be many guest musicians sitting in, too!

So come on out, help us support our friend Paulie, and have a great time doing it. Tickets are available at the door, so just show up and don't be late!

As always, thanks for your support, and a big Thank You in advance from Paulie.

Valerie Dunne will present her new exhibit “Ireland and Spirit”

Buffalo photographer Valerie Dunne will present her new exhibit, “Ireland and Spirit,” with an opening reception from 6-9 p.m. Monday, October 15, at Betty’s Restaurant, 370 Virginia Place, Buffalo, 362-0633. The exhibit will be on display until the end of December.

Dunne described the process of observing and choosing her subjects; the photographs, taken on a recent trip to Ireland, demonstrate the many levels of spirituality in the topics of the photographs and the effect on Dunne.

“In photographing, and subsequently printing the images from the Spirit series, I realize that there is a cultural story here. The fact that ancient, sometimes mysterious monuments are standing, mostly untouched, helps to affect the culture; they give the population inspiration to be a more spiritual/visual people,” Dunne, an Elmwood Village resident, said. “Everyday utility objects in public places have a decorative quality. For example, the City of Galway water system covers; they are decorated in ornate Celtic design, with wording in native Gaelic tongue.

“I have always been a photographer who looked for images of places and things that aren’t going to be around long, including buildings that will be torn down or reclaimed by nature,” Dunne added. “In Ireland, neither of these seems to be probable. Buildings aren’t disposable. Those that are not in use as buildings can be hundreds of years old, and left to stand. Being structures of stone, nature is certainly present, but only as an accent - not to overtake. It’s refreshing to shoot without the pressure of the structure not existing the next day.”

Dunne, a resident photographer for many years at the Buffalo Arts Studio, is also an artist member of the BAS Board of Directors, and is a member of Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center, where she has shown her work in the Hallwalls’ members’ shows. She has photographed in various styles and topics, from art photography, concerts and band portraits to human and animal portraits, political events and weddings. Other of her photographs of Ireland were published in Buffalo Spree Magazine.

The owner and operator of Barkloud Productions, a photography and graphic arts company, Dunne studied for her bachelor of fine arts degree in photography at Buffalo State College. She is married to writer Kevin J. Hosey.
