Thurs. 8/21 The Hillbilly Hellcats rockabilly from Denver CO. @ 8:00PM - www.myspace.com/hillbillyhellcats

The life and sounds of the new millennium come crashing into those of the fifties in the songs of this modern rockabilly trio. Coming from a state known for its tie-dyed bands, Colorado's Hillbilly Hellcats tell stories of skateboards and hippies, as well as white trash, whiskey and trailer parks. Both of the bands CD releases have received extensive college airplay, charting for weeks in the College Music Journal's lists. The disks both feature the guest drumming of Taz Bentley, known for his playing on the first three Reverend Horton Heat albums.

Take one part Reverend Horton Heat, one part Southern Culture on the Skids, one part Stray Cats, one part Gene Vincent & His Blue Caps and one part Dick Dale, put it all in a tall dirty glass and add a few shots of Everclear, then swallow The Hillbilly Hellcats if you dare. The Hellcats' chops and energy levels rival - and in some cases best - the sum of their influences.

Where the majority of rockabilly acts are simply nostalgia merchants, The Hillbilly Hellcats, fronted by Chuck Hughes, do something more: they write songs that use vintage elements to touch on contemporary topics. Better yet, the combo's awesome riffing and pedal-to-the-metal rhythm section inspire rockers and swingers alike to shake their tail feathers.

Guitarist Chuck Hughes and bassist Lance Romance formed the band in 1994, after previously playing rockabilly standards together. They also write all of the band's material. Building on these influences, along with all the other music that has come since the rockabilly heyday of the 50's, the band has created a sound that is a "well rounded mix of rockabilly, swing, bluegrass and a bit of punk". Many songs in MP3 format are available from the band's website.

The Hillbilly Hellcats are:
Chuck Hughes - Guitar, Vocals
Lance Bakemeyer - Bass, Vocals
Chris Karlen - Road Drummer

WHAT DO KEITH ANDERSON, RODNEY ATKINS, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, JOHNNY WINTER, DELBERT MCCLINTON, BUDDY GUY, VAN ZANT, GEORGE THOROGOOD, HANK WILLIAMS, JR., MONTGOMERY GENTRY, SUSAN TEDESCHI, AND SHEMEKIA COPELAND ALL HAVE IN COMMON - TRIPLE THREAT, TWO-TIME GRAMMY®-NOMINATEDSONGWRITER, SINGER, PRODUCER & DRUMMER: TOM HAMBRIDGE!

A native son of Buffalo, New York, Tom started playing drums at the age of 5 and was in his first band, Undertow, in the 3rd grade. Tom's formal education began with a scholarship at Boston's world famous Berklee School of Music, where he frequently returns as a guest lecturer. After years of touring the world and performing with many of the biggest names in the business (Chuck Berry, Roy Buchanan, Boston, Hank Williams Jr., The Drifters and many more), Tom set his sights on Nashville where he lives and works today as a producer, songwriter, and performer.

Soon after arriving, Hambridge signed a publishing deal with international giant EMI, and he's enjoyed remarkable success with countless songs used in major motion pictures, television and by many legendary recording stars including: Buddy Guy, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Montgomery Gentry, Billy Ray Cyrus, Gretchen Wilson, George Thorogood, Joe Nichols, Rodney Atkins, Van Zant and Johnny Winter. Tom wrote four songs on Delbert McClinton's Grammy award winning CD, "The Cost of Living". He also received the 2007 ASCAP Song of the Year for co-writing Keith Anderson's smash hit "Every Time I Hear Your Name". His drumming can be heard on the Ashley Cleveland's 2008 Grammy Award winning album "Before the Daylight's Shot".
As a Producer, he's worked with many of the best in the business. He received a 2005 Grammy® nomination for his role as Producer of Johnny Winter's newest recording "I'm a Bluesman." His most recent project involves producing a star-studded group of musicians including Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks and Robert Randolph on the latest Buddy Guy CD, Skin Deep released in July, 2008 .

In addition he produced Susan Tedeschi's Platinum-selling, Grammy®-nominated "Just Won't Burn" CD. Tom wrote her Top 10 Triple A hits "Rock Me Right" and "It Hurt So Bad." He has co-produced and written songs on George Thorogood's last three CDs, one of which debuted as #1 on the Billboard Blues Album Charts. Much to his kids' delight, Tom has recorded vocals on tracks for two smash DISNEY hits, "Cars" (2006) and "Ratatoulie" (2007.)

If that's not enough, Tom's released 4 critically acclaimed solo CD's (Still Running, Balderdash, Bang 'n' Roll and Tom Hambridge and the Rattlesnakes Live!) and actively tours with his solo band, Tom Hambridge and The Rattlesnakes.

Thurs. 8/28 The Mark Winsick Band @ 8:00PM - www.markwinsick.com
Fri. 8/29 Chilblains @ 9:30PM
Sat. 8/30 The Hi-Risers from Rochester NY @ 9:30PM - http://www.angelfire.com/music5/hirisers/news.html

The Hi-Risers play energetic, song-oriented rock'n'roll. Formed in 1997, the founding members are Greg Townson (vocals, guitar) and Todd Bradley (vocals, bass). Jason Smay joined the band on drums in 2002. The band has recorded six CD'S, "Panic", "In The Spotlight", "Lost Weekend", "That Rock & Roll Beat", "The Fine Art Of Making Mistakes" and their latest "Once We Get Started". They also collaborated with Kaiser George (leader of The Kaisers) on the recent release "Transatlantic Dynamite" and Eddie Angel (Los Straitjackets/The Neanderthals) on "Eddie Angel Meets The Beatles." In addition, they've contributed recordings to numerous compilations.

The Hi-Risers have played to enthusiastic audiences in a wide variety of venues, including upscale niteclubs, country joints, blues clubs, punk dives, and outdoor family oriented festivals. They've toured the US frequently and have been well received in Europe. Although The Hi-Risers consider themselves a rock & roll band, you will also hear rockabilly, rhythm and blues, country, doo-wop and surf in their music.

Todd Bradley and Greg Townson began their musical partnership nearly twenty years ago. In addition to playing hundreds of shows together and releasing two records with The Essentials and The Salamanders, they've recorded with Rock'n'Roll Hall-of-Famer Hank Ballard, jazz legend Bill Doggett, James Brown's bandleader Pee Wee Ellis, and soul great John Ellison. On stage they have backed up everyone from Bo Diddley to Delbert McClinton. They have shared bills with such diverse acts as NRBQ, The Ramones, and many, many others. Todd and Greg's recordings have been reviewed favorably in Billboard, Guitar Player, Option, Cool and Strange Music, Blue Suede News and many other music publications.

The appeal of the Hi-Risers is probably best expressed by a bar patron who, after hearing the band for the first time, declared "you would have to be a total jerk not to love this band!"
