Fourth Annual Mediterranean Festival set for July 11th -13th
"Celebrating love and care for family and your heart"
St. George Antiochian Orthodox church is again celebrating heart healthy promotion of it's 4th Mediterranean Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 11th-13th on the church’s spacious grounds at 1073 Saunders Settlement Road (Route 31), a half mile east of Military Road in the Town of Lewiston.
The three-day festival continues to grow, with the addition this year of new foods such as Greek gyros and even more local entertainment, including our own Saint George dance troupe. As always, this celebration of Mediterranean culture will feature a variety of ethnic foods, cultural entertainment, live music, a Kids Village, specialty coffees, religious icon displays and a basket auction with cash prizes to be drawn each day and a grand prize of $1,000 and new this year 50/50 split each day.
Our church will be donating portion of proceeds from the festival to the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and The Heart Center of Niagara as well as Mt. Saint Mary’s Hospital and Health Center to sustain the quality of service and awareness of heart disease. As we celebrate love and care for our family and your heart health, we can not forget the importance of family and friends in Western New York who have been stricken by the disease and most recently our beloved promoter of Western New York, Tim Russert.
Founded as a celebration of Greek and Middle Eastern culture and traditions, the Mediterranean Festival is fun for the entire family. Ethnic foods will include Peach Festival souvlaki, stuffed grape leaves, Greek and Lebanese pastries, gyros, homemade breads, falafel, hummus, tabouli, spinach pies and kibbe. Information about the festival and hearth healthy food is available on the website http://www.st-george.squarespace.com
Hours for the event will be 4 to 11 p.m. on Friday, July 11; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 12; and noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 13. Opening ceremonies will be held on Friday July 11th at 5:00 PM and the closing ceremonies will be held on Sunday July 13th at 5:30 PM.
