The Legendary Jony James Blues Band June Newsletter
Hello friends, fans, and venue owners. The Legendary Jony James and his band have had a tiring but very productive month of May.
Our mini SURVIVAL TOUR down to the Carolinas was busy and went well. The show at the Double Door Inn in Charlotte was met with rave reviews, even Derek Trucks stopped by to check out the band after his show down the street. We are currently working on a return date so keep a watch on myspace.com/jonyjamesband or our web site www.jonyjamesband.com.
The month of June has started off with a bang!!! We did in fact win for the second year Artvoice Magazine "Best Blues Band" thank you all who voted for us. The Buffalo New York based Hardtale Magazine presented us with an award for Best Biker Band. Also at the WNY Blues Society Super Jam 2007 our drummer Kent Leech A.K.A. Boom Boom received the Blues Beat Magazine "Muddy Waters Award" DRUMMER OF THE YEAR.
Our festival appearances have definitely increased in '07. After playing a couple of festival shows in May we are looking forward to four festival shows in the month of July. The band will share the stage with Edwin McCain and Devon Allman's Honeytribe(yes it is Greg Allmans son) on July 7th in Banner Elk, NC at Eagles Nest. The Legendary South Chicago bluesman Jony James and his band have been honored by being asked to participate in a "SUPERJAM" with Devon Allman @ 9PM. Be sure to check the web site for details for this show! ITS GOING TO BE HUGH!! Four of the best guitar players in the East will be onstage @ the same time with dual drummers. Come see Boom Boom and Rod add their "tight" rhythm section to this JAM. If any body gets in to town on the 6th we will be at the Blackboard in Banner Elk playing the pre party. Also in July the band will head over to Maine to play Saturday July 21st @ 9PM and Sunday July 22nd @ 10AM at the Somerset County Jam Fest we'll kick that weekend off in Syracuse, NY at the Dinosaur BBQ to start the NYS Blues Festival.
At The end of June we'll be heading out for another leg of our SURVIVAL TOUR thru out the southeast so please check the web site for a date near you, if we aren't playing near you please let us know were we can play in your area.

P.S. NEWS FLASH After Nine years as house band @ the Tudor Lounge in Buffalo, NY the guys are still blowing the roof off the place. Last Thursday night the band entertained using a double drummer combination with Ted Reinhardt. Ted and Boom brought the house down!! Standing room only!! Being at the top of their game(as they quite often are) the band and their fans experienced one of those special times which we in the music business call a "magical music moment." if you are around the Buffalo area the band will start having Ted Reinhardt every Thursday in June and see were it will go, so stop by if you can. Peace
