Queen City FC Open Training Camp
Queen City FC will officially begin preparation for its inaugural season with the start of its preseason training camp on Saturday, April 14. Queen City FC will hold its first training session at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 14 at LaSalle Park in Buffalo, NY. The team will also train at the same time and location on Sunday, April 15.
The team will be involved in a number of public relations events around the Buffalo area throughout April. The preseason training camp week continues through Sunday, April 22nd in preparation for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup first round match up against the New Hampshire Phantoms in Manchester, NH, April 29th.
“We are so excited to finally get to our training camp,” said Christopher Keem, Queen City FC Executive Director and General Manager. “We have been planning this since October of 2005, and now we are finally ready to hit the field. Although we aren't at our normal facility until May, we are delighted we can use LaSalle Park in the interim."
The pre-season roster for the inaugural season has been selected. Throughout the tryout process, Queen City FC had 142 players come out for the Blue's. Team executives are hoping to finalize the roster after this weekend. The Blue's will have a reserve side that will play matches vs. Local Men's teams. Any local teams that wish to line up scrimmages vs. the Blue's second team please contact Christopher Keem, 716-310.6326 or ckeem@queencityfc.com.
The majority of the players that will be involved in the preseason training camp are local players, as players are coming in from all around the country and due to NCAA regulations are not able to participate in this weekend’s camp. The team will not be together in its entirety until May 1st.
Christopher Keem noted, “We expect to have about half of our team involved in our preseason training camp this weekend and next weekend in preparation for the US Open Cup. The team will receive a tremendous boost when our players off at college arrive in early May.”
Queen City FC opens its season away against the Long Island Academy FC on Saturday, May 19 at 7:00 PM. All home games will take place at Johnnie B. Wiley (JBW) at 1100 Jefferson Ave, Buffalo, NY. The Blue's open their home stand June 15th against AC Diablo’s at 7pm. The opening match on May 5 will be Buffalo/Western New York Soccer League Night. Every student wearing his or her soccer jersey will be admitted to the game free of charge.
