Villa Maria College Fall Lunchtime Music Series Features
Alumni Performance November 2

(October 26, 2006 -- Cheektowaga, NY) Villa Maria College, in conjunction with M & T Bank, is pleased to announce the next event of its 2006 Fall lineup for its second annual Lunchtime Music Series. WBFO, 88.7 F.M., is also a partner on this joint community venture.
Villa Maria College alums Davey O and Jeff Mikulski, contemporary local musicians, are slated to perform November 2, 2006 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. college recital hall.

Davey O. has been described as "raw, rustic, rootsy and melodic, Davey's songs endear themselves to you quickly. It's pretense-free Americana, and worthy of your attention". These are just a few of the words used by Buffalo News Pop Music Critic Jeff Miers to describe "The Emotional Shelter", the third of four indie releases by Buffalo, NY based singer songwriter Davey O.

After spending over a decade as a bassist providing the bottom for several national and regional touring acts, Davey's songwriting has now been heralded by Allen Foster of Songwriter's Monthly for his "penetrating vocals that sing of the human condition", and Davey's energetic live performances reveal an undeniable chemistry between himself and guitarist/mandolinist Jeffrey Mikulski, as well as a warm, and often humorous banter with his audience.

A 5 time ASCAPlus Award and 2004 WNY People's Choice Music Award (Best Original Acoustic Solo) recipient, Davey toured the Northeast and Midwestern U.S. throughout 2003-04 in support of the "Shelter" CD, and has no plans of slowing down in 2005 with the release of a new 4 song acoustic EP, "thirtyninedollarview", and subsequent tour dates to follow throughout 2006.

Performing at a wide range of venues, from coffeehouses, clubs and listening rooms, to colleges and universities, private parties and outdoor festivals, Davey is one of only three acoustic artists tapped for The 2005 ARTVOICE Streetfest (which featured headliner Gov't Mule), recently opened for acclaimed singer songwriter and Rykodisc Recording artist, Kelly Joe Phelps, and was one of approximately 100 artists selected to perform at The 2006 Music Is Art Festival, founded by Robby Takac of the Goo Goo Dolls. Davey's song "No Use" was also included on the 3 disc 2006 MIA Compilation. Davey has also performed at Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Cafe, as well as making regular stops at such notable venues as Buffalo’s own Nietzsche’s, The Sportmen’s Tavern, and Cleveland, OH’s Barking Spider Tavern.

Like the universal appeal of his songs, you can find people from all walks of life in Davey's fan base and at his shows; families, students, bikers, babes, kids and grandparents, a diverse demographic from 7 to 70, all with an appreciation for music well done, and with a honest viewpoint.

In November of 2005, Davey's song "Transformation Road" from the "thirtyninedollarview" EP was added to the regular rotation playlist of Buffalo radio station WLKK, 107.7 The Lake, with the song also selected for The Lake Local Music CD Volume 3, due for release in August of 2006.
Davey currently splits his time between touring, working on his next solo release and as bassist for the recently reunited Accidental Man recording artists, 53 Days

The last of the 2006 series line-up will feature Mir Ali and Betsy Reed on December 7,

featuring classical guitar and flute.

All Lunchtime Series performances are free of charge and open to the public and will be held in the college recital hall (main building in the music wing) during campus hour from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
