THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE
1969. 98 min Rated R Directed by DARIO ARGENTO
TONY MUSANTE SUZY KENDALL EVA RENZI
Hitchock-style thriller about an American writer living in Rome who is the only witness to an attempted murder. “Director Dario Argento's debut film is a remarkable work, based on an obscure 1950s pulp novel, Bird. Its execution makes it a highly original, inventive, and fast-paced film that plays with the conventions of the thriller genre. The score, editing, and camera work, however, give the film a distinctly Italian stamp, and established Argento as a stylish, innovative director to watch. The scene in which the writer is chased through the streets by a gun-toting assassin, in particular, is a little gem of suspense. Modern-day thrillers should hope to live up to this film's intelligence, energy, and intricate plot twists.” - Amazon Review

HANGOVER SQUARE 1945. 77min Not Rated Directed by JOHN BRAHM LINDA DARNELL GEORGE SANDERS LAIRD CREGAR Cregar stars as a musician with a Jeckyll-Hyde personality in this haunting turn-of-the-century thriller. When a distinguished London composer learns of a murder that occurred when he suffered from amnesia, he worries he may be the murderer. “A chilling psychological thriller you won’t soon forget.” First time showing at The Screening Room. FRI FEB 22nd & FRI FEB 29th at 7:30PM.
THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE 1969. 98 min Rated R Directed by DARIO ARGENTO TONY MUSANTE SUZY KENDALL EVA RENZI Hitchock-style thriller about an American writer living in Rome who is the only witness to an attempted murder. “Director Dario Argento's debut film is a remarkable work, based on an obscure 1950s pulp novel, Bird. Its execution makes it a highly original, inventive, and fast-paced film that plays with the conventionsof the thriller genre. The score, editing, and camera work, however, give the film a distinctly Italian stamp, and established Argento as a stylish, innovative director to watch. The scene in which the writer is chased through the streets by a gun-toting assassin, in particular, is a little gem of suspense. Modern-day thrillers should hope to live up to this film's intelligence, energy, and intricate plot twists.” - Amazon Review FRI FEB 22nd & FRI FEB 29th at 9:00PM
A CLOCKWORK ORANGE 1971. 137min Rated R Directed by STANLEY KUBRICK MALCOLM McDOWELL PATRICK MAGEE ADRIENNE CORRI. One of our most requested movies returns to The Screening Room for our first showing in over ten years. STANLEY KUBRICK'S controversial and harrowing journey through a near-future world of decaying cities, murderous adolescents and nightmarish technologies of punishment and crime. A CLOCKWORK ORANGE remains a truly surreal and disturbing viewing experience, and is not *for the squeamish. FRI APRIL 18, SAT APRIL 19 & FRI APRIL 25 at 9:00PM
