A personal note from the RootMaster
Happy New Year to everyone. I hope that 2008 brings you much joy, happiness, prosperity and good health. I also want to thank everyone for the support you’ve given BluesRoot once again in 2007. Your interest, words of encouragement, and attendance at our shows is truly appreciated. And, I want to express a special thanks to all of our show sponsors and partners. You make it possible to take the BluesRoot brand of Smile producin’. People pleasin’. Good time music. to all the great places where folks gather to have a good time. Thanks.
What a cool summer full of cool gigs!
Amusement parks, baseball parks, civic events, fund raisers, festivals and private parties all were home to “da Root” this past summer and we certainly enjoyed performing, but it was even more enjoyable meeting, and making, a whole lot of new friends in the process.
New look at www.bluesroot.net
Take an online stroll over to the home of “da Root” and check out the new site. I’ve given the site more than a facelift and traffic has increased along with the new look. Will see about 250.000 folks drop by during 2007. But, I’m not done yet…a lot more interactive features
are on tap for 2008 to include: new podcasts (RootRadio), video to video live calling, video messenging, and some live BluesRoot vidcasts. Also will be revamping the clothing store with a new cool tee! Keep checking and tell your friends to stop at www.bluesroot.net too.
New look at our other music websites too.
www.60sgeneration.com is all about that turbulent era with the focus on the music of course. I’ve now loaded the site with great old videos of the early stars of rock ‘n roll, the ‘60’s greats, blues legends and BluesRoot. Each kind of music has its own video jukebox. In addition
there’s footage of old commercials, television shows and movies too. Of course there’s a lot more, but you’ve got to see it for yourself. This site pulled in over 620,000 visitors in 2007.
www.bluesrootentertainment.com will be changing into a full fledged site dedicated to helping musicians get seen and heard. That effort will get a boost from a new website that is still in development, www.northamericannewswire.com. Have developed a news contact (e mail
address) database of over 20,000 newspaper, broadcast and online journalists around both the US and Canada. Will offer low cost, instant news release distribution to about 8.000 for music (more for other businesses, since this is not just for the music biz.) Cost will be a few
cents per contact, saving folks hundreds or thousands of dollars in mailing alone! www.bluesrootradio.com and www.buffalotrax.com have both seen handsome traffic increases matching the growing listenership on both streaming radio stations (BluesRoot Radio and BuffaloTraxRadio). You can access the stations right from the websites.
New BluesRoot originals are on the way.
In the midst of laying down scratch tracks and getting copyrights squared away from 13 new tunes that will appear on a new CD in 2008. Little more blues country feel to the new tunes.
2008 show schedule in the works
Getting anxious to start gigging! Lots of new material and more dates on the way. Once again we’ll be hitting some sporting events, fairs, festivals, community events and amusement parks. But, we still have a lot of time to play your fundraiser or special affair. Just email us at booking@bluesroot.net and we’ll go from there. We want to be your entertainment choice.
More flexible lineups coming in 2008
The core for BluesRoot will always be myself, the RootMaster, and lead guitar sidekick Art Borgeson, but I want to make sure we can meet your budget requirements around the country as well…since travel can get costly. So our material has been rearranged to fit Art and I as a duo. Art and I plus either a harp player or bass guitar player as a trio, or all of us a four piece. In addition, I have put together a legends of songwriter series to perform as a solo at more intimate gatherings, or in cases where a local backing band can play the Root tunes. So, now there’s no excuse. Duo, trio, four piece or solo…book BluesRoot at booking@bluesroot.net , or by calling (716) 631-2023

After Christmas and New Year's, It's Boring in Buffalo, But...
Buffalo, N.Y. (December 19, 2007) – After Christmas and New Year's are over, January can be pretty depressing in the city of Buffalo if we're being honest with ourselves. So why not grab the kids and come to the Salter's Christian Music Youth Music Camp Kick Off Rally? The rally will feature intense Gospel music from Nathan Salter, the rock band Relevant Worship, and the Youth Music Camp 2007 Percussion Class. The rally takes place on Saturday, January 5, 2008, from 4pm to 6:30pm, at the Hyatt Regency hotel, Two Fountain Plaza, in downtown Buffalo. Admission is free, and church youth groups, pastors, youth leaders, and parents are encouraged to attend.
According to spokesman Mark Weber, of BuffaloChristian.com, Salter's Christian Music Youth Music Camp is a life-changing experience.
“I was a volunteer camp staffer this past summer,” says Weber, “and it was the best week of my year. About two dozen talented young musicians and singers from Western New York got to learn more about performing and using their God-given gifts to bless people through classes, workshops, practices, and recitals at the camp. It was a lot of fun, too.”
This January's Youth Music Camp Kick Off Rally is intended to show newcomers a taste of what to expect at 2008's camp. For more information, call Salter's Christian Music at 716-882-1876.

Local Rocker Gaining National Attention
Adam Zadok advances to the semi-regional finals in FUSE TV's BODOG Battle of the Bands. Cleveland’s legendary House of Blues will host this national event on January 20, 2008. Entering the talent search in July, Zadok's EP, “State of the Union,” was picked from thousands of submissions nationwide by BODOG staffers.
After surviving 2 grueling rounds of performing live in front of 3 discriminating judges and by overwhelming die-hard Cleveland audiences, the band moves on to the semi-regional finals. “There’s some real talent out there,” says Adam, “I’m learning so much and I’ll definitely have to bring it all to the next round!”
BODOG's Battle of the Bands covers North America narrowing more than 4500 participants down to 10 unsigned bands vying for a $1 million recording contract with the company. Bands representing Detroit, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland will also be competing at the semi-regional event.

May 2008: Arthur the Aardvark Is Coming to Artpark!
Stage Version of Emmy-Winning Children’s Series Hits Artpark May 14! (Lewiston, NY) Arthur LIVE!, the delightful, critically-acclaimed stage version of Marc Brown’s six-time Emmy Award-winning PBS series, is hitting the Artpark stage for a pair of musical adventures (10:30am and 7pm) on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Tickets to join Arthur, Buster, D.W. and the entire gang from Elwood City are only $7 (or $6 before January 15) for the field-trip friendly morning show, while entrance to the evening family performance is $14-$19 for adults and $9-$14 for children 12 and under. Arthur LIVE! is suitable for children in grades K-6. A performance-related study guide is available for educators looking to complete this truly unique enlightening and entertaining experience.
Featuring a dozen original songs -- including ”Good and Ready,” “The Loose Tooth Wiggle” and "T-Rex Rocks," Arthur LIVE! keeps the audience engaged and tapping their toes. The show includes our favorite cast of characters: the lovable, intrepid Arthur, his feisty sister D.W., his good buddies Buster and Brain, his nemesis Francine – and new stars including the warm, wise and wacky Tooth Fairy. An innovative, page-turning pop-up storybook set and special-effects move the story through Elwood City, Arthur’s House, Mr. Ratburn’s Classroom, the Dentist Office and the Dinosaur Museum.
Arthur LIVE! stresses the values of teamwork, learning and the joys of being a kid. In this musical adventure, D.W. is jealous when her big brother Arthur loses a tooth and gets a visit from the Tooth Fairy. Arthur explains that the Tooth Fairy comes only when you lose a tooth and put it under your pillow at night, so D.W. dreams up some hilarious (but unsuccessful) plans to trick the Tooth Fairy into coming. Finally, Arthur decides to reward D.W.'s efforts by helping the Tooth Fairy.
For more than 30 years, children have enjoyed reading Arthur Adventure™, the award-winning book series by Marc Brown that has sold more than 60 million books worldwide. PBS TV began airing the Arthur television series just over a decade ago, and it continues to be one of the top children’s shows, as merited by winning a Peabody and five Emmy Awards. Now children and their families can enjoy Arthur LIVE! as everyone’s favorite aardvark comes to life to celebrate over three decades of educating and entertaining young children.
Arthur and his friends from Elwood city are some of the most trusted and recognizable children's characters ever. Many companies and organizations have chosen Arthur and his friends for promotions that capitalize on Arthur's broad appeal with kids and respect with parents. Promotional Partners include Juicy Juice, Daimler-Chrysler, Marriott Resorts and Barnes & Noble.
To order tickets and / or request an informational brochure, please call the Artpark Box Office at (716) 754-4375 x239 or visit www.artpark.net. To learn more about Arthur and experience a host of interactive online activities, visit www.pbskids.org.
